Skite 9.0, 1. Szene 1 hour challenge and videos (8.3.2005)
print
Skite 9.0 sells so good that we are almost sold out in that size. Thanks!
At the first "Szene 1 hour snowkite challenge"
"Szene 1 hour snowkite challenge" Martin Klingenschmid and I participated using Skites 11.5 and even though we for sure used the worst skis (both on blades in powder...) we ended up as 7. and 8. - I do however admit that it was a fun race and participation was more important than being the best. It is this kind of events I really like - it's small in size, nice people, good conditions, nothing dangerous. A bit like this link , it leads you to a video Renaud Laville sent me. He likes his Skite a lot, it seems.
Spot: audun-le-roman (France, Moselle)
Rider: Renaud Laville
Camera : Vincent Verhoeven
Thank you, Renaud, for sharing this nice 10MB!
And here is another one of his site: ottange-1.wmv.
There are some more videos to come...

KITE & friends - Snowkite special (24.11.2004)
print
This winter the German mag KITE&friends publishes the second edition of their snowkite special. In there they give an overview of all relevant kites and tested most of them. Concerning the SKITE they write:

SKITE BOOM
After the Vector BOOM offers the SKITE that was specially designed as snowkite. Using a depowersystem the force can be adjusted, for turning the kite it should be powered up a bit to enhance handling. The big cells and the diagonal ribs allowe to reduce the bridle. The Skite comes for a favorable price.

At the kite tests they write:

Easy concept: SKITE by BOOM with depower
SKITE is the name of the new softkite by BOOM with depower system. It has 18 big cells and a reduced bridle that is supported inside the kite. Aspect ratio is appealing while offering good stability. The depower system works well, handling when depowered is reduced however, but well powered up kiteloops are possible. Five sizes with 4.5, 6.0, 7.5, 9.0 and 11.5 square meters as well as a small 2.0 version make the Skite a favorable offer for winter use. The leashless-safety allows BOOM to remove the extra safety leash.

SKITE 2.0 in the Netherlands (19.10.2004)
print
Just received this message from the Netherlands:

Hallo Richard,
Alas I had hardly time to kite last weeks :( . I had only one more flyingday with good wind, 5 bft and sometimes a 6/7. Again a great day, flying this 2.0 Skite! I was at IJmuiden-beach and met a experienced buggyer who was interested by the speed and power of this little kite. He also was suprised and very enthusiast after testing it. In particular the power, compared with his little devil 3. He wanted to know more about other (bigger) Boom-kites, so I also showed him the www-address on the bag.

Thanks!
:-)

snowkiting lessons (27.1.2004)
print
Today Hardy from snowkiting.at called me and told me about last weekend: he had 6 persons for lessons and gave them different kites, two of them had a Vector and those very two were the first ones who could control their kites and ride. The others had lots of problems with their gear after it landed and they also had problems to keep their kites stable in the air. With the Vectors there were no problems at all. Hardy asked me to release the SKITE ASAP, he urgently wants to use it for lessons after he had a chance to try it and did not want to use the other gear he uses in the meanwhile. BTW: here is a link to Hardy's site.
